A Malaysian was interrogated for 3 days after his arrest in Cairo. He was interrogated with what is called ‘hard interrogation tactics’ by the officers present. The Malaysian, Major Azlan Mohd Shariff was in Egyptian police custody and not in Immigration custody as reported yesterday by Wfol.tv in an exclusive story.

From Cairo, Wfol.tv can confirm the following on the arrest of the Malaysian member of a prominent international NGO based in Malaysia, the Global Peace Malaysia (GPM):

Major Azlan, who is a pioneer in Malaysian aid to Gaza which is controlled by the Hamas organization, was arrested on Saturday night by a group of men who said they were local police. He was arrested on suspicion of violation of his visa to Egypt he was told.

The arrest then turned into a nightmare when he was manhandled and mistreated by the police officers who were actually part of a team working with the CIA and the Mossad (Israel’s intelligentsia) in Cairo.

The interrogation of the Malaysian took place in tense condition with the local officers getting assistance from the Mossad and the CIA who had at least 1 of their officers each at the interrogation of Azlan Shariff.

The news is yet to make the headlines in Malaysia but Wfol.tv has been informed by his friends that he is indeed arrested by the CIA. The reason for the arrest is not known but it is clear that he was on a misson for the GPM in Cairo and was probably at the GPM office in Egypt, which is very near to the Rafa crossing into Gaza. The GPM operation base is at El Arish, some 50 kilometres away from Gaza.

On Sunday 6th of September, friends of Major Azlan told Wfo.tv that his whereabout was unknown so far but they seem to confirm that he was arrested by people who claim to be from the CIA. Azlan was on a mission in Gaza for the Global Peace for the Eid El Fitr and to distribute the Zakah to the needy Palestinians.

While the news is yet to make the local newspaper’s headlines, it is confirmed that Azlan was arrested by the local police attached to a special task force unit that monitors movements from and to Gaza. The special unit is also assisted by the CIA, the Mossad and the British intelligence agencies. Their aim is to record the movements of people from various nationalities visiting Gaza.

It is also confirmed by Wfol.tv that many other nationalities were participating in the Global Peace Mission and Azlan was one of the foreigners involved in the mission to Gaza. He is well known in Egypt by local NGO’s and is also very popular with Palestinian NGO’s but his role as the headman who can penetrate the Gaza region to bring in aid from Malaysia was questioned by the Egyptian police and the CIA, Wfol.tv was told.

Protest letters by the GPM and a few local NGO’s in Kuala Lumpur will be sent to the Egyptian Embassy in Malaysia in order to make it clear that the Malaysian NGO’s did not like the arrest and the interrogation of their peers in Cairo, Wfol.tv was also told.

The mission was announced on the GPM.com.my website before the start of the Ramadan.

For more than two decades and under various names, GPM has provided emergency assistances to various communities in southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa as well as the East Europe who where devastated by war and natural disaster. Other than relief mission we are also able to deliver rehabilitation program.

Major Azlan, active for the GPM in Gaza, is an exco member of the group. This is a developing story. Wfol.tv will keep the readers updated.
